Tethered to the Calm

Brittany Ferns latest paintings begin with mermaidssometimes alone, often in pairsgliding through moonlit waters or resting under tangled trees. These duos suggest kinship, mystery, and quiet rebellion, suspended in dreamlike scenes that blur the lines between land and sea. Cowboys drift into the frame too, conjuring dry horizons and folklore of another kind. Together, these figures animate Ferns rich, layered landscapes, where deep greens and dusky tones evoke a wilderness that is both tender and untamed. Her worlds feel pulled from memory and myth, offering a space where stillness, longing, and wonder coexist.
