Narcissus Goblet Daffodil Bulbs

Award of Merit Haarlem Award 1961 (Netherlands)

Narcissus Goblet is an award-winning jonquil variety that brings elegance and charm to any garden or vase. This heirloom daffodil, celebrated for its striking bicolor blooms, rises to a height of 16 to 18 inches in the spring, producing flowers with pure white petals that beautifully frame a large, ruffled golden-yellow trumpet. As the bloom matures, the trumpet softens to a delicate lemon-yellow, creating a graceful transition of color that adds depth and interest to your garden. Borne singly on long, slender stems, these bold blooms make exquisite cut flowers, perfect for spring bouquets and mixed floral arrangements that bring the freshness of the season indoors.

As a member of the Narcissus jonquilla family, commonly referred to as jonquils or daffodils, Goblet has an upright, clumping habit and is known for its ability to multiply and naturalize with ease. These daffodils form sprawling clumps of long, flat, strap-like leaves and showy blooms that return year after year, making them a reliable choice for long-term garden beauty. Under ideal conditions, adequate space, sunlight, water, and fertilizer, Goblet daffodils can thrive for decades, delivering a consistent display of stunning flowers each spring.

Goblet daffodils are incredibly versatile and can be planted in groups or masses to create dramatic displays in mixed beds, at the front of borders, or in patio pots. They are especially effective when planted in large sweeping drifts across open areas, under deciduous trees, or in smaller groupings in front of shrubs. These daffodils mix beautifully with ground covers and other spring-blooming bulbs, adding layers of texture and color to your garden. Additionally, they can be forced indoors, allowing you to enjoy their beautiful blooms even during the winter months.

Cold-hardy to USDA Zone 3, Narcissus Goblet is a bulbous perennial that is extremely easy to grow and maintain, making it a virtually foolproof option for gardeners of all levels. These daffodils perform best in sunny to partly shady locations with rich, fertile, well-draining soil that has a neutral to acidic pH. While they prefer areas with cool winters and warm, dry summers, Goblet daffodils adapt well to most USDA Zones where there is a discernible winter.

When planting, space the bulbs about 8 inches apart and plant them 6 inches deep to ensure they have enough room to grow and multiply. Water the daffodils during their growth period, but be mindful of overwatering, as bulbs prefer well-drained conditions. To encourage robust flowering, feed the bulbs with a balanced fertilizer, such as Espoma Organic Bulb-tone Bulb and Flower Food, as soon as growth begins in the spring. After the flowers have bloomed, allow the foliage to die back naturally, this process is essential for storing energy in the bulbs for the next season’s growth. Once the leaves have fully faded, they can be cut back.

Goblet daffodils are relatively pest-free and are resistant to deer, making them a durable and low-maintenance addition to any garden. Whether you’re looking to create a stunning garden display or enjoy their beauty in a vase, Narcissus Goblet offers a timeless elegance that will enhance any space.
