Jug with Summer Haze

Sydney-based artist, Phoebe Stone, works primarily in oil pastel, using the mediums immediacy to explore the quiet beauty found in everyday arrangements of color, pattern, and form. Her works capture scenes of domestic lifetablescapes, food, and familiar objectsrendered with a sense of urgency and delight.

Stone approaches each composition intuitively, allowing the process of making to guide the outcome. In her hands, the ordinary becomes luminous and alive, each piece a study in balance, rhythm, and the tactile pleasures of observation.
