Little Kitten Maiden Grass

Whimsical Texture for Landscapes or Patios

Why Little Kitten Maiden Grass?

Add a lovely, textured groundcover to your landscape with the Little Kitten Maiden Grass. This herbaceous ornamental grass with feathery plumes is perfect for small gardens, rock gardens, and even decorative containers.

The Little Kitten has fine-textured foliage, with green, blade-like leaves. Foliage turns golden-brown in fall, and, in late summer, this Maiden Grass blooms with silvery and creamy white flower plumes. These plumes transition to a pale yellow as they mature.

This versatile grass can be planted in masses to lend the look of natural grasslands to your landscape. It also makes an excellent specimen plant for small city gardens and landscapes, growing just 3 feet tall and 12-18 inches wide. Plus, it’s compact size makes it perfect for potting, allowing you to add texture and color to your deck or patio.

The grass is rabbit- and deer-resistant, and largely free of diseases and pests, so you won’t need to worry about regular maintenance. Drought-resistant once established, the Little Kitten requires minimal watering and care. You can prune it in late winter to encourage new growth and remove dried leaves.

This dwarf grass adds beauty to outdoor spaces and garden beds of all kinds. Be sure to get yours today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant in an area with full sun (6-8 hours of sunlight per day). Select a location with well-drained soil and dig a hole that’s large enough to accommodate your Maiden Grass root ball.

After you’ve planted, mulch the surrounding area and water to settle the roots.

2. Watering: Water weekly, or more often in extreme heat or drought. If you plant your Maiden Grass in containers, you’ll also want to water more frequently. Check the soil and water when soil is dry to the touch two inches down.

3. Pruning: Prune your Little Kitten Maiden Grass down to the ground in late winter, just before new growth appears.
