Queen Elizabeth Rose

A Profusion of Reblooming Pink Roses

Why Queen Elizabeth Roses?

It’s the Rose that’s impressed novice gardeners and landscapers alike for the last 50 years. Living up to its name, the Queen Elizabeth Rose boasts elegant color that’s worthy of a royal estate and is the second most widely-grown rose after the Peace Rose.

You can cut a few for indoor flower arrangements too. The Queen Elizabeth Rose’s multi-layered, unbelievably aromatic bloom makes the perfect centerpiece to enjoy. Forget ordering bouquets online – your own garden delivers rich blooms as you’ve never seen before!

It grows in an effortlessly pleasing habit that needs little attention to bloom season after season. In fact, it’s a 1955 All-America Selections Winner…and one of the very few roses to rise in popularity since its introduction more than half a century ago.

Classed as a Grandiflora Rose, meaning ‘large-flowered’, the Queen Elizabeth’s crowning glory is its delicate pink blooms. They grow high and perfectly-shaped, boasting nearly 40 petals each for unparalleled volume and unbelievable fragrance. And the Queen delivers flushes of blooms all season, with the first wave emerging as spring transitions to summer.

But it’s not just good-looking…unlike other varieties, Queen Elizabeth has superior resistance to disease and stands up to frigid temperatures with ease. Plus, Queen Elizabeth can reach 5 to 10 feet high but just 3 feet wide, creating a columnar look that adapts well in tight spaces, containers by entryways, and borders along your foundation.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Select a spot with well-drained soil and full sun (6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day).

Plant your rose in a hole twice as wide but just as deep as the root ball. Water immediately to establish roots. Add a 3-inch layer of mulch to prevent weeds.

If you’re planting in a container, select a pot that’s about twice the size of your plant’s shipped container and use organic soil. Place your rose, water to settle its roots, and find a sunny spot on your porch or patio to place your container.

2. Watering: Water weekly, or check the surrounding soil. When the soil is dry about 3 inches down, it’s time to water your rose.

If your rose is container-planted, water until you see it flowing from the drainage holes at the bottom.

3. Fertilizing: Feed with a liquid rose fertilizer, once in the spring and once in the summer. Follow the instructions on the package.

4. Pruning: Other than for shaping purposes, no pruning is required for your Queen Elizabeth Rose.
